Week 3: The Pivot

WEEK 3: The Pivot MY HEAD Here is the model I have worked on so far I would say it is substantially more than I thought I could make in this program I have never used. Turns out Blender is very hard to use when it comes to creating something complex like the human head. I will now pivot to a more efficient method of translating my head into a 3D Model the new method that was brought up by Jose is using a 3D scanner. The plan is now to 3D scan my big ol' head and get that into an editable blender file. The previous creation of my head from scratch is probably going to be scrapped. But I do not think this was wasted time because Blender is still the program I am going to use to sculpt my stylized head. This was a great exercise to get used to the program and how sculpting works, developing the muscle memory I think is worth it. Week 2: The FUN Part

  WEEK 2 This week was quite fun—I spent time figuring out how to stylize myself. The idea of lights shooting out of the eyes and mouth was inspired by a scene in Arcane , so I decided to create a modeling reference in the Arcane style. It turns out I’m not great at replicating the style, so I decided to "cheat" by using Hugging Face AI to "Arcanify" myself. Here’s the result: Modeling Reference You might be wondering why the one on the right is hand-drawn. The Hugging Face AI performs decently when stylizing a front-facing image, but it struggles with side profiles and doesn’t fully stylize them. As a result, I had to draw it myself. The proportions are a bit off, but that’s okay. MODELING! I went through quite a few YouTube tutorials on 3D modeling in Blender. Almost all of them recommend starting by "blocking out the shapes," which means simplifying and adding shapes one by one. Week 1: The Proposal

  Overstimulation I want to create a tormented soul.  To further elaborate the internet is a gigantic data base that has an unfathomable amount of information that is freely consumed on a daily basis. The amount of information and awareness of the world is a blessing and a curse. This digital environment is filled with imagery that can traumatize, and ultimately change a person. With the amount of large personalities, and influencers it is not hard to be tricked, and  manipulated. I want to lean into this nihilism in this object. To make this object one of a kind it will have my face as the tormented soul. The sculpture will be shoulder up stylized version of me. To further elaborate on the object the eye sockets and mouth will be hollowed out and will emit light. There will be white LEDs and a thin white mesh will cover them. On the forehead there will be a phone attached like a parasitic alien life form. I plan on putting this object in an installation where there is a ...
