Week 3: The Models

WEEK 3: The Models

This week was just about working in Rhino. Like a baby I had to learn to walk, but once I got my hands on it again everything started to come back and what helped the most was Google Chrome.

I started with line tools, this part could have been done a lot faster I am sure but I created a line frame of the dimensions I wanted and created polysurfaces using Osnap on the points.

 I ended up with this:

Then I brought in my designs into Rhino and set them as the background. Then traced it with the line tool. I made some changes to Mayari and removed her scar but kept the eye closed.

Now I needed to create the stem for the key cap, and I needed to get some measurements for it.

At this point I was thinking of the future and thought of the project a lot more modularly so I can make adjustments as needed. So I made sure to keep copies of everything. I filleted the edge aswell.

Then I extruded my designs capped them, saved a copy of this, then I went in and boolean differenced it from the keycap

Then I boolean unioned the stem under the keycaps, but I found an issue, so I had to make a few changes. I just cave the parts that exposed the stem and filled them and raised it up.

I then filleted the edges and I ended up with this at the end:
